What is the "silencer" you ask? It is a prcess of string winding which compresses the outermost part of the cover wrap leaving the internal part of the string intact. This produces a string that sounds like a round-wound, but limits the finger and fret noise. This process is actually called inverse winding, produces a round-would sound with a silky feel.
